loriann Brisson-Arel - Biography

My work celebrates the beauty in the ordinary—the gentle grace of daily life and the quiet poetry of human connection. Through soft pastels, I seek to capture the intricate relationship between light and color, exploring how they interact to shape form and atmosphere. Each piece is a study in contrast and harmony, where shadows and highlights work together to create depth and dimension.

Strong design elements of line, light, form, and texture are central to my compositions. I build up layers of pure pigment, allowing color to reflect and refract through the light, creating a sense of movement and inviting the viewer to step into the scene. Whether portraying figures, family, or fleeting moments, my goal is to evoke a sense of wonder—a reminder of the hope and beauty woven into the fabric of creation.

Ultimately, my work is an invitation: to pause, to notice, and to find meaning in the simple yet profound moments that shape our lives.
